Dear Machinists,
I'm looking for a south bend brand 5c collet closer or a collet draw bar for a 13" south bend lathe, manufactured in the early 70's. Does anyone know the unit numbers for the whole assemblies? Thanks in advance,

Bob

View this reply as more of a bump than a definitive answer.

I think if threaded spindle it is HWC102T

hopefully with this at the top you you get a better reply.

I don't know if this helps, but I have this from a 1951 accessories catalog. This is essentially the one I have on my 1966 CL145:

Unit Numbers VS Catalog Numbers For Drawbar 13" HWC102T

I think the unit number is different from the catalog number. Many times, there is a unit number stamped on the draw bar which identifies it as a specific assembly for a particular lathe. I could make a draw bar but I'd really like an original SB unit for my lathe. Basically, the lathe is in excellent condition with excellent additions like a taper attachment, collet rack etc, all original SB stuff. I'd like to continue in that tradition if possible. Thanks for any help you can provide. I just need to be sure when a collet closer or draw bar comes up for sale that I'm getting the correct thing.

I have one, it's not in the greatest of shape but it works and I have all of the pieces for it except the original mounting bar, mine is shop made. Also have the spindle sleeve and the thread nut. If you're interested shoot me a message.
