Unusual? Raised South Bend Lathe

I was just killing some time looking at machines on CL and came across a listing for an unusual (I've never seen one) raised South Bend, it looks factory, but maybe not? Was this a common feature? Interesting the way they did the tail stock riser, looks like it could be used to extend C-C length. I don't have room for it, so if someone else is interested go for it, standard disclaimer, I don't have anything to do with it.

Is this how they make a 24"? Look at that faceplate underneath! I would not want to push that tail stock around.
