Hello all,

I have a 1947 Heavy 10 (10L) with a taper attachment. I need the longer cross slide lead screw.

Wondering if anyone has one to sell (?)

Thanks

Did you search the forum? I replaced my cross slide screw with one from a guy on ebay. He posts here occasionally. I also had to replace my cross slide nut, which I also got on ebay. However, I don't remember the guy's name and ebay sucks at being able to look up a sale from years ago.

Yes I see one on eBay, but the asking price is $220. Quite a bit more than I'd like to spend. The taper function will hardly ever get used.

It's not about longer, it's about the telescoping cross-slide screw which allows the slide and the TA to work together.

If you're only going to cut tapers occasionally it's a simple matter to disconnect the cross slide nut and set the depth from the compound.

Both arrangements were available on SB lathes, so it's not a bodge.
