Default What is the threaded hole on the side of my Aloris AXA tool post used for?

I recently bought this Aloris AXA tool post from a PM member.

While playing with it, I noticed a blind threaded hole on its side.

    What is its purpose?

Frank Sirola's 1961 patent drawings match this part almost exactly, except the drawings show no threaded hole.

I agree. I'm subscribed to his channel, but hadn't yet gotten to that video.

I think I'm going to have to drill a hole in my Chinese knockoff.

I learn something new every day.

    Problem is, I forget two.

    Three if it's Friday.
