This is a very early Kearney & Trecker (K&T) dividing head or spiral universal center. It can be found on page 34 of
Catalog No. 19.

I purchased it in a lot at an auction and do not have a need for it.

It functions as I would expect, everything seems to move. The 3 jaw chuck is a little tight, but probably just needs some cleaning. I have done nothing to it since I acquired it.

Based on the very low serial number, I expect this to have been made prior to 1920. A truly vintage piece of machinery that would be perfect for an early milling machine, but will still work fine on modern equipment.

With the right gearing attachment, this can also be mated to a milling table and the chuck can rotate in combination with table movement to cut spiral gears (not included as I do not have it).

It has three divider plates. Two appear to be shop made and one of those appears to be a duplicate of the one installed on the dividing head.

It weighs between 135 and 140 pounds crated. I will ship at the buyer's expense from 44060.

$400.
