Are HBM tailstocks interchangeable between different manufacturers?

Are these things adaptable between different manufacturers with a bit of work or would it be a bridge too far?

I can't imagine that different manufacturers would cooperate on any standardization to be similar at all.

OTOH, if you're asking adaptable, I guess you could make almost anything fit if you're hardheaded enough. For instance, you could find a K&T horizontal arbor support and mount it upside down and two feet above the table if you wanted, unless there's some federal law against such things. That wouldn't make it easy or a good idea. Have you seen pics of V8's adapted to motorcycles? It was an interesting thought, but ....

On a Horizontal boring mill? Lots of times, they'd HAVE to be, so many have "vanished". Prolly find them hanging out in some corner of Hell with reverse jaws for scroll chucks, dividing head plates and drive gears... but not until we GET there..

:)

Be happy they don't have to have motors, gearboxes, and such.

Cumbersome. Tedious, even. But do-able, even if it has to be a fully from-scratch weldment. An adaptation could be easier if at least the same size-range of HBM and its bar.

Or not.

Not in the same class as a shop-fabbed HEADSTOCK, after all
