Howdy all,

Cleaning out machine tool misc. crates I found this. I have no idea what it is but it appears to belong on a quill. Does anyone recognize it? Can anyone help? No maker or marks of any kind, but it's very nicely made so I suspect a quality origin. About 12" (300mm) long and the bore is 65mm (~2.550"). Thanks to all for your assistance.

Kind Regards,

Don

Looks like a banjo for a quadrant on a lathe. Couldn’t tell you the make or model lathe it’s for though.

It could also be a banjo for an universal dividing head.

No help on make, etc.

Check if there is any letter or number cast in the part,

Paolo

It is a (tracing) contouring attachment for a manual mill. It is incomplete. There is a micrometer collet holder that holds a stylus that is the same shape as the tool that is being used to cut. I have a larger one I use on my Lagun mills.

Many thanks to all who took time to help.

Mold God wins the prize! With that suggestion I did some more research and it is in fact a Bridgeport PM-1 profiling attachment for M heads. For the curious, the complete tool is shown at the top of the following page:
