Where are you seeing Lyndex 50 taper JT holders WITH drill chucks for $20 each?
40 and 50 taper are totally different markets. 50 taper machines are real big. Outfits that buy new 50 taper tooling are big corporations. Therefore the used market gets pretty flooded with it.
I think 50 taper was alot more common 25 or so years ago. Toolpaths have changed and 50 HP 4000 RPM spindles aren't needed anymore with high speed toolpaths.
If the OP gets $40 each that's great. good for him. Last auction I was at a few months ago had hundreds of lots of premo CAT50 with starting bids of $25 for 20-50 pieces each. Only a couple lots sold. The rest was scrapped.
BT50 is much less common in the US compared to CT50. That rarity doesn't usually make it worth more.
I have a big BT50 machine and anything I've ever needed to buy for it is dirt cheap used. I bought some Bilz tapping holders for like $15 each new on Ebay.
