Here are some milling machine table drive parts

Not sure what milling machine they came off, but they came in a box of B&S9 tooling.

The worm is 3/4" diameter and matched up to my 5tpi thread gauge. The shaft on the end of the worm is 3/8" diameter.

The shaft on the u-joint at one end is 1/2" diamter and the u-joint is 1" diameter.

The u-joint on the other end is 3/4" diamter and has a 3/8" hole in it, which probably mates to the 33/8" shaft on the end of the worm.

The shaft extends 4-7/8" and has a key to drive it.

It pulls in and out, but it is stiff and probably needs to be cleaned out.

Not sure what it's worth, as there's nothing to compare it to.

If you have the machine for it, make me an offer.

The telescopic shaft is like the feed shaft for my #1 B&S circa 1890's.
Shaft extends and contracts as the knee is raised or lowered.

That's exactly what I suspected it was.
Now the problem is finding what it goes to and the guy who needs it, who is probably tearing his hair out looking for one.
