MK4 3/4" max Tailstock Drill bit Chuck

Hello,

I am by no means a machinist so forgive me if this question is easy to solve. I have a 3ph 480V metal lathe that I am attempting to use an 18mm drill bit in the tailstock. My current tailstock drill chuck adapter can only hold 1/2" and the shank of my 18mm bit is about 0.73". Attached are pictures of the adapter which is only labeled MK4. Also attached are pictures of the lathe and tailstock, sorry my tailstock does not have a part or model number stamped on it. I have looked up and down through amazon, MSC, Grainger, Fastenal, and ebay for this type of adapter and haven't found anything that looks like it would work. I think I can get away with a collet style holder for the workpiece as well, so a set of collets with the tailstock adapter would work too.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Your question should have been posted in the general section but I'll attempt to answer your questions/guide you in a direction.
Your lathe tailstock should have a MT (socket/receiver/opening) to accept the tool you want to use whether typically a drill chuck (as you show) or a ctr
Look up MT (Morse taper) dimensions to get dimensions of what size MT you have in the tailstock.
Whether its MT3, MT4 or MT5 you then need to find a MT(your lathe size) adapter and corresponding drill chuck(that will handle a larger drill) that can be used together in your tailstock

As mjk said.
From your photo it look like the drill chuck you are holding is Morse Taper #3 (MT3).
Here's a link to measurements so you can check:
Dimensions of Standard Tapers - LittleMachineShop.com

Then go check ebay for a 3/4" drill chuck with that taper.(I saw one for $65, maybe an import, but probably good enough).

You're getting up to the drill sizes that are usually morse taper shank to go straight into your tailstock.

I'm assuming you're putting that drill chuck directly in your tailstock. If you're using a Morse Taper sleeve, that gives you more options.
Good luck,
Bob
