Old Toolbox FREE for Pickup

Free for pickup in Irvine,CA
Can’t tell where it was made, or by whom.
Includes all the bits & bobs in the photos.
Has some gas ration coupons from WW 2
Some interesting pencil writings on the edges of a couple drawers detailing where the owner of the box worked, and dates.
Could probably be made nice again.

I have a rough Gestner just like that with a bunch of toolmaker stuff in it from 1943. Mine went through a flood (still wet when I got it), but everything cleaned up nice. I got it in trade for installing $75 of CV shafts in a guys car. One of the most useful things I have ever bought. I'm always digging through it looking for some little ground tidbit or indicator attachment. There's a bit of everything in there.

Suggest you try selling the gas ration coupons separately, those may be worth something.

Sure looks like my Gerstner. Look for their name on the latch. Still a decent box, just ugly. I could name a few other things like that in my shop, some animate.

That is a neat old box, great wear pattern by the drawer handles, it's been used a while that's for sure. If I were near I'd take it.

I am pretty sure that is a Union tool chest, I have one like it with that same style central clasp.

I think I gots to back out, I don't really need another box, plus my thought was to restore it and give it to a friend, realistically that's likely never going to happen, as I'm not even getting around to my must do list (bathrooms/kitchen/backyard etc)

You may have to put a case of beer under it or a bag of pot in it, tools are getting hard to give away.

I ended up hauling 75lbs of micrometers, gauge pins and such from Ca to Idaho so I could give them to the high school shop teacher.
