Scraping stuff on CL

I got real excited when the Craigslist ad said Mount Morris. That's about 45 minutes from my house!! Closer look, it's Mount Morris Michigan, not New York.

That's a killer deal for a Glendo accufinish..

If he was closer I'd almost certainly be going home with that mag base cylinder square.

Everything looked to be in great condition, here is the text of the CL add:

I don't consider myself a scraping hand at all, just something I had to do as a CNC service tech, and it turn into a passion for me. Scraping new slides and fitting gibs was a struggle because I was dead set against power scraping. It got to be hard on my body hand scraping everything, but once I bought a power scraper and learned how to use it at one of Rich's class the job got much easier. I scrape on something almost every day, and teach it for free in my shop to anyone who has a desire to learn.

If I can ask some "fan boy" questions, how long were a scraping hand? And what was the most challenging job you did?

My most challenging job in 30 years of installing and repairing machines had nothing to do with scraping. It was leveling an Okuma VTM 1200 YB. What a pain!

PM members, feel free to make offers on anything, plus shipping. Thanks

Daryl

Interested in test bars for lathes.

I have one with 5mt and a 10EE - I think it's a 12 Jarno.

Do you have anything like that?

Thanks,
Andrew

I know this man's scraping. Anyone with a spare moment of time and the slightest inkling to learn would simply be a fool not to take him up on that.

SERIOUSLY.

You will not find a more humble or generous instructor.

I rarely offer praise like that.

Hi Andrew, I don't have the Jarno #12 but I would part with my MT#5. I have been in search of a MT#4-1/2 for my lathe, but all I keep getting are odd balls. I'll get photos and measurements for you. I bought it as a MT#5 but have never actually had an opportunity to use it. Thanks, Daryl

ZK, you are too kind. I wish I could say I was a scraper hand, but still learning myself. I got calls from two others that knew it was me and another one from Steve M who told me about this post. Thank you to welderboyjk for the post. Daryl
