I dont have a following rest, well I have one but it's not to this lathe, and I'd like to buy one or see at least one that exists and how it works.
Let me know if you have any knowlege of one and how they work.

There's a PM thread on 'em for 10EE that shows four if not FIVE different ones built over time for those lathes.

Just about every common way, and a few NOT so common to go about it is covered with decent fotos in that thread.

My one is about the simplest of the lot, but even so, most any tome I ever had need of using one, any lathe, I had to DIY a different interface to the work being done, basically use the factory one for a "carrier" to hang my modifications off of, right where the "rest" or support work needs doin'.

"How they work", IOW is "just right for one tasking, dead-wrong for some other. Just fix that and git 'er done."

PDF Page 28 here shows FR pieces from Monarch - the dirt simple design with only two major pieces - the flat with the notched out corner being both the rear and upper back up. The big goose neck item just bolts to side of carriage saddle bridge.

Thanks to John Legge and Greg Menke for the scan

As can be seen, they only have to do what you want them to - particular lathe make/vintage isn't the issue
