I am looking for arbor supports for a #2 Universal Cincinnati High Speed Dial Type horizontal mill made in 1951. This is a machine that has one large dial for both speed and feed and shifts without a dial lever. The supports would probably have been made out of aluminum. The machine came out of a high school sans supports.

I am focused on finding a type B support, but would also like a A support if available. I would also love a hinged intermediate support, but I think those are relatively rare.

Machine dovetail dimensions are approximately:
4 9/16” narrow part of dovetail
6 1/16” wide part of dovetail
1 1/4” height of dovetail
6 1/4” from bottom of dovetail to spindle center

Edit: I would also love a knee crank—-these are relatively specific to this generation dial type and similarly aged toolmasters

Here is a picture of the machine for reference (currently being used as a glorified table :rolleyes5: )

Blackrainstorm what is your serial number? I have the same mill and would also like arbor supports, I have one factory support and one home made one. I would like a vertical head but I'm to cheep to pay $900 for one and they seem to be scares also.

Yeah, I could make one, but it would be nice to have a factory one just for completeness. At least the Cincy ones can be replicated in an aesthetically pleasing form without casting. The K&T ones look a bit sad when not cast.

Nothing gives more pleasure than doing a grate job building a part you need and cant buy, my 2cents. A good machined part and gray paint, it will look cinn..Phil

Mine is 4A2U1V-7 I don't have the back lash compensator and for some reason the vibration dampener in the over arm is missing.

I have a b support for a 1947 #2 model OO, not sure if it fits or not, my measurements are close but not the same except for center line height. This ones serial number is 2j2p1t-54 and part number is 118276. I got this off of Fleabay, was told it was off a #3 and like a fool believed them, no returns. If you would like more info feel free to email me, I can take some pictures of the measurements if that would help you. It is in really good shape and I would like to find a good home for it, and if you happen to come across a #3 that they don't want a fortune for let me know.

Jon

How close are your measurements on the arbor support you have? I think yours is off of an MI machine, which may work on a late dial type like mine (both had the vibration damped overarms). My measurements may be off 1/4” or so.

I will keep an eye out for a #3 support.

Thanks,
David

I sent a PM, let me know if you got it. my sent email doesn't show I have sent anything...

I hate bumping a 3+ year-old thread, but this is the only relevant hit google gave me when I searched these part numbers. Figured it'd be better to add on here than start a new thread.

Can any of you No 2 owners confirm that that these go to a No 2?
