I have a Sheldon Horizontal Mill that is currently fitted with a vertical head. I want to convert it back to a horizontal mill but I need some Brown and Sharp #9 taper arbors. Looking for either 1" or 1.25" arbors.

Let me know what you have.

I had a machinist friend who wound up with a Sheldon no. 0 horizontal mill. He removed the spindle and made a whole new R8 spindle on his CNC lathe.

Different approach. Either way costs money.

recommend against used, but you can try it.
I got my sheldon with a 1" arbor. I got a bit sick of wearing out one side of the cutters - it wasn't quite straight. I did not know about Michigan Drill so I made one out of stressproof. Fitting the taper took lots longer than I thought it would, and I am still not completely happy with it. At least it is straight.
