I have a Myford MG12 cylindrical grinder with a 3hp motor. I am looking at either the American Rotary AR-5 or North America Phase Converter PL-5. Both recommend a 2.5hp motor.* Both also use language that suggests maybe you can fudge that.
*(How often to do you see a 2.5hp motor anyway? It's either 2 or 3.)
I plan on using a 3phase coolant pump. Its probably 1/12hp. Also the machine rectifies some 3phase power to DC. I think that is 1/2hp.
So can I get away with either of these converters for my machine?
