I am looking for a 5x12 magnetic chuck, and was offered a Taft Pierce which is missing the controller. Is a mag chuck controller something simple, easy to fabricate?

All that is needed is basic bridge and a drum switch or such relay logic to reverse it. (do the demag by hand and is that needed or one can ignore the reverse need)
Fancier is a good sized stat to do reduced power if you need this.
If machine power 440 and chuck 120 you need a transformer. It is not complicated by any measure.
In many cases one can do this power for 50 bucks or less. Will not have the bells and whistles but works.
Depending on chuck voltage going with a plug in to the 120 wall outlet can eliminate the transformer concerns.
Done separate from machine power is whose ground and those leaks that may tingle you.
