Thread: #3 Sq head M2200 hyd pump crazy loud deassembled all looked good inside

Hydraulic pump is really really loud on my #3 square head M2200. We took it all apart and everything looked OK inside.....

put back together sounds as bad as ever


Any ideas ?

A worn shaft seal or suction leak (between pump and reservoir) can allow air to be sucked in (air entrainment) or a clogged suction strainer could be starving the pump (cavitation)

If you have a suspect area of suction leak try to smear a glob over the area (shaft seal or tubing/hose) and see if the sound changes, it may help to locate a suction leak

MMmmmmm suction leak ....why didn't I think to check for that?
