How old is my turret lathe

I just bought a warner swasey no.3 m-1200 lot #161 serial #560764.
Does anybody know what year this lathe was made? thanks

It's not real old compared to some but we would need to see the serial number and plate. Nice machine great find, All you W/S owners have me Gassing for a #3 Good luck with it.

That # should do it. There are many here who will know what year it is. And if you want to find out fast contact Giddings and Lewis, they will be able to tell you all kinds of interesting things, like who purchased it originally. Enjoy your new friend...........

Early forties. M-2200 is a #3 Universal.

That is a very clean looking machine, nice find.

If there is aluminium on the machine it is post war. Not much of it to spare during the big push. It is newer than reed's war machine and older than the one I run.

I got it hooked up and it will put my monarch 18.5 by 54 to shame as far as hogging metal..
