I purchased a Warner & Swasey No.4 M1420 Lot 186A Serial No. 982157 at an auction for $150.00 (outbid a scrap dealer). I would like to start using it as soon as I get it home, the Hardinge lathe I am using isn't heavy enough. I need some tooling for the turret and found a No.5 M1740 Serial number 620895 that is going to be scrapped with the tooling. Will the turret tooling interchange? I would also like to know the year the No.4 was made, it looks like it hasn't been used much.

I would certainly not overlook any tooling........even wrong bolt pattern is easily adapted.,and the box tools and grooving tools are heavy and costly to transport.i have an amazing collection of turret tooling, some must have cost a fortune new...........some box tooling will turn squares and hexes ,as well as cam shapes..........Its beats me that would- be machinists are so hopeless when it comes to simple modifications to make something useful.
