Hello all . I found this site after searching ( to no avail) the internet . I saw a thread here on a Garvin lathe but no pics or value info was included in it . I own a Garvin lathe that I last saw used around 1980 by my father and I believe was my grandfathers and may be from late 1890’s or more likely mid teens to mid 1920’s It’s been in my garage since last used in 1980 . I’d like to know exactly what type of machine I have and approximate value if I were to sell . I will post pics after I put up this post , because after reading the rules and regs here , it says I may not be able to post pics on first post . Thanks for any and all info in advance.
Regards , Paul.

Sorry if these pictures aren’t formatting or displaying correctly. Trying to navigate a new forum format at work from my cell is proving difficult for this old guy lol . I’m not the most technologically advanced. Only noticing now that these pics aren’t posting so clear either. I can try again or post more if need be . Thanks again

and approximate value if I were to sell

That could be a very nice basic woodturning lathe for someone who needed/understood old machines.
So maybe a couple hundred$. In a pinch.

OTOH, and i hate to say it, if you are near NYC there are quite a few people who buy old machines like that for the legs. To make tables and furniture with an "industrial" inflection, that sells for a lot in urban areas including decorating commercial spaces. Just slap a live edge slab on top with a shiny finish and the combination can be sold for quite a bit if you have chutzpah. :)

The rest gets scrapped. Or the lathe could still be mounted to a bench.

So, bottom barrel price is probably $150-ish. Tops is probably less than $300 for someone who wants to use it instead of a Powermatic, Yates, or other similar size heavy but short, small dia wood turning lathe.
