Hammer Jointer/Planner combination ......
Looking for a combo jointer/planner combination for home shop use. Stick with the Hammer brand or are others just as good ?

I haven’t used the Hammer but own a MiniMax in a small pro shop.
I would say buy the cutter head you prefer, otherwise the machines appear functionally equivalent.
Hammer states:
“The 3-knife automatic cutter-block is your *guarantee for superior planing results.”
I don’t know what brand they use but my MiniMax has a Tersa head.
I can’t say enough about Tersa- functionality is perfect.

I have had a Minimax since about 1984. Works fine, but now and then I wish for longer jointer tables.

Hammer is very much a price point machine in comparison to the 700 series. Due to its design, it benefits from a spiral head. I like Tersa but with any straight blade head you want chipbreakers and a pressure bar. Many lower end machines lack those. Used JP tend to be reasonably priced and a good value. Dave

Suggest Casadei.

Thanks for all the replies. I went with the Hammer. They had a summer 20% off offering. I got the spiral cutter head. The shipping and follow up and overall help from Felder USA has been first class. Got the 12" model.
More than adequate for my needs.
