Re-engineered wood,including transparent.

Anyone been following this guy?

According to Sport Aviation, they started out a couple years ago as a PhD project, removing a certain percentage of lignin in wood, and compressing it to 1/5 volume, yielding material as strong as high performance steels, but 1/6 the weight. Website sucks, but looks like they have now developed transparent wood.

IIRC Rayon dosen't like water.

Cellophane does a little better:

However, I can't see anything about the linked stuff, whether or not it is
truly "waterproof" more or less than anything similar.

I agree the website sucks, the way they are hiding any tech info leads
me to believe they are asking for money. Much like the "carter copter".

They're definitely doing that.
Would like to see more about the high strength wood.

Very curious how any of the "products" do with moisture.
Can imagine, say, wooden props again - there's never been a fatugue failure of a wood prop - but they don't do so good in rain (erosion) or moisture (stability).

If there's any viability, it will probably start with sports equipment. Always need for a new fad for an "edge". Tennis racquets again, maybe golf club shafts & woods....
