Can you mill a part on a lathe? What about turning on a mill? The answer is yes! Here are some of the tricks of the trade.

If you are lucky enough to work in a machine shop equipped with plenty of milling machines and lathes, chances are you’ll always be able to use the right machine tool for your application. Sometimes, however, you might find yourself in the position of having to do a job that requires mill work and only have a lathe available or vice-versa. What do you do in that case?
In this video, Derrick Hogan, CNC Technology Instructor at North Georgia Technical College, shows how to overcome the problem. Together with some of his students, he shows how you can use a mill to do lathe work and how to use a lathe to execute some milling operations.
