Episode #19: Keep Your Spindles Turning
In this episode of Machine Shop Talk, Ian Sandusky from Let’s Machine talks about why your spindles should always be turning.
If you work in a machine shop, regardless if you are a machinist on the shop floor, the foreman, or the shop owner, you know that everything decision or action is taken with one simple, yet fundamental goal in mind: keep those spindles running.
This might sound like a very obvious concept, but it’s also something extremely easy to lose sight of. If your machines are not running when the lights are on (and possibly even when the lights are off) your shop is losing money. If you are dedicating your time to activities that are not aimed at keeping the spindles turning, you are either wasting time or taking a risk. In this video, Ian explains why and how everything you do in the shop should be done with the goal of keeping your machines running with a purpose.
Do you agree with Ian? What other recommendations would you make shops to keep their spindles turning? Share your opinion in the comments.
