I have an 8M 385-21 SH Gates taperlock hub and bush.
I'm going to cut a new hub and was curious if anyone knows
a source for engineering drawings for such parts.
The gates site has an online drawing generator that craps out
every time I try it.
Is 1.5 degrees a reasonable taperlock angle? This is
what I calculate [approximately] from the extant hub geometry.
Thanks

Thanks.
If I have the math right thats about 1.8 degrees from taper to the centerline
(or 3.6 degrees total cone angle).
Is that 3/4 inch from radius change along a foot length or from diameter change?
And is 1.8 degrees (or 3.6 degrees) some kind of standard angle?
Like 1/100 of 360 degrees maybe?

On split taper bushing the taper is 3/4"/ft. I'm pretty sure it's the same for QD's and taper lock.

standard tapers in taperlocks

thanks [subatomic resolution appreciated], do u happen to know
what are the other standards; I measure about 1.5 degrees
on my taperlock [0.55mm radius change over 20.8mm travel]
which is close to 5/8" per foot, my measurement isnt
precise enough (+- 0.05mm) to tell the diff bet. that and
9/16" or 11/16" per foot so I'm hoping 5/8" is standard and
9/16 and 11/16 are not [not to speak of 32's or metric units...]

taper bushings

Hi Rutman,go to any bearing supply house(Applied,Motion.ect.)and get a Dodge Power Train engineering manual. It has every thing known about taper hubs & bushings and more.Browning catalog and Stock Drive Products are also excellent sources. They should be free. Randy
