This is the older model with the metal bezel ring. How does this come off? I found a mention of a "circular spring" in a post, but no discription on how to get to it. Do you remove the screws and take the entire caliper apart to get to it from the back?
.

Already looked at them. Most just take the rack off for cleaning. One guy took apart what he said was a junk one. He just pried the bezel off with a screw driver. I am not a fan of that unless it's the only way.

I saw 2 or 3 videos where they just pried the dial off. Seemed to work fine.

I thought about this now and don't remember if I used it. So you evaluate.

Place caliper on scrap piece of plywood with bezel facing up. Place sticks of wood across the tool and screw ends of sticks to scrap plywood.
Make two pry bars from something like maple. Thick enough to wedge underneath the bottom of the bezel ring.
Then place bars under the bezel ring and push bars down to force bezel off.
You might want to stick masking tape on the bezel to keep of scratches.
