Either that, or maybe bolt the two gears together if the first option is not possible Also, does anyone know where I could get a wiring diagram for the electric part of the machine? That would really help the remaining works.

Thank you very muck for the info! You should know, we've already started restoring the machine. Tailstock ready. Apron ckeaned and working smoothly. Tool post and taper assembly under reassembly. Metric screw for the toolpost to be fitted. The motor needs testing, I'm still trying to get a...

"Good for" stands for capable with the gears provided, or capable to hold up to the load?

If you zoom here, you can see there's a slot for a straight key for the gear in place, but on the rest of the axle there's none. Just a blank spot for the extra spindle gear to park. If there was a metric kit designed for this machine, how was it meant to work?

Forgive my lack of proper terminology, English is not my native language. I guess what I was trying to say is that there's only enough slot for the inner gear on the scree axle for a straight key. As you can see on the pic, the outer part has no slot at all. Would you happen to have any pics of...

Another question on the matter. Regarding the way a possible 127/100 gear would engage. Gears on the machine are 1" wide. Screw gear axle only has a Woodruff key for the inner gear, the outer position is a "parking spot" for the spindle extra gear. I thought I could use that position if I were...

Thank you for the info. I've tried to find some but no luck. I made a new thread for the matter, and have come to the decision to make some on my own. We'll see how that works out. https://www.practicalmachinist.com/forum/threads/south-bend-documentation.418690/#post-4140529

A little update on the matter. I've fabricated a little brqcket to extend the current banjo range in order to fit hmthe larger 127/100 gears. Anyone know the pressure angle on those gears? I'm about to print test hears and stuck on the design 20 or 14.5⁰? I think I've read the latter somewhere...

I see, that's interesting. I'll keep that in mind, thank you very much.

Thank you for the warning. I'm not sure I understand why that would happen, my lack of lathe working experience is not helping me out. Is it because of the extra load the lead screw will need to cover the distance? Assuming ghat we keep that in mind and use very small cutting feeds, is it...

I'll need the standard threads too, so a 12DP is the way to go. If you can figure out some easy combos it would be nice. Also, I'll need to cut a 2TPI thread, any ideas?

Unfortunately I do not know if the 16" was intended to use 127/120, 127/100 or 127/50 by the factory. Truth is I don't mind using a different one than the original, as long as it can fit the geartrain and make metric thread selection simple. The 50 option makes it as simple as it gets, just by...

80T gear measures around 6.8" diameter. 82/6.8 equals about 12 48T gear measures around 4.2" 50/4.2 equals about 12 So I guess gears are 12DP. Thank you for the help 👍 Next up, a 127/100 12DP 3d print for test purposes, and if it fits ok on the bracket and works as expected, I'll fabricate an...

I have access to CNC machines so whatever I'm positive that will work, I can fabricate for a vwry low cost. Regarding the 16/14DP, I'm not sure what gears my machine has, I've never tried to identify gear types. If you are 100% positive on this, I'll look around for a 14DP printable gear for my...

I see your point, I know the diagram is not an exact representation of the actual model I got, but I expect the same principles to apply. When it comes to gearing at least. I'm not going to do professional work on it, but nonetheless I'd like it to be as "correct" as possible. A 127/100 should...
