Hi all

im having problems getting transferring data to my tnc151

using TNC Server

i have managed to transfer data from the 151 to the laptop but i cant go the otherway around
i used these pin outs to get it transfer data out - using short circuit handshake
25pin - 9pin
2-2
3-3
4-8
5-7
6-4
7-5
20-6

i purchased this from eBay that didn't work at all -

any ideas ?

If it transferred out then the pinout is fine.
Look at the program in notepad and see if there are any stray characters.
what errors are you getting when trying to import?

Well i have two test programs parts to see if it will import ...

post processor for tnc 151 in fusion 360

001.txt is a .txt file
1001.txt was a .H file but i converted it to .txt so it will attach here

When i tell the machine to input all programs it must send CTR/RTS signal because tnc server starts outputting the program - finishes sending - nothing appears on the tnc 151 screen no errors it just says "data input" until canceled

I do not believe the 151 uses block form, delete it
try using a program you write in the control rather than an unknown program to test. It will error with 'wring program data' if there are things that it does not accept

i have tried to put the program back in that came out it wont work

do you have a small sample program i could try ? file type should be .txt or .H ?

pics as follows ...

1.readout prgm - enter
2.prgm to be read out - ok
3.pgrm recieved by pc - ok
4.prgm ready to send from pc to tnc 151 - 1.H
5.Read in all prgms on tnc - enter
6.showing on screen data input - ok
7.prgm reads out from pc when triggered by tnc151 - pc reads out
8.no change - no program on tnc screen
-----i have to hit delete or it will stay on the screen forever------
9. read out finshed on pc - delete key pressed - no data on tnc151

ive tried receive all programs / program offered / selected program / directory ....

ok ive tried that no luck
Do you have a home made or purchased cable ?

and what file types are you sending ?

Thats what i thought if we could send data it meant that txd , rxd where correct and we had signal ground
if it would raise cts it would also work for rts

This is the diagram im currently on for wiring the data cable

9 pin -25 pin
2-2
3-3
7-5
8-4
5-7
6-20
4-6

also 9 pin loop 1-6
25 pin loop 8-6

I haven't read thru the entire posts, I have a TNC 2500, and use VisualCam. I've read that the 151 is similar. Dont know if the below is helpful, but this is what works with mine. I use VisualCam and the post outputs ISO (not Heidenhain) data (xxx.I file names):

> The machine is always set in ISO mode (I made the button overlay that converts the keypad to ISO, artwork posted here years ago). I have never used the Heidenhain conversational or posted files in heidenain format.
>attached are the pinouts for the serial cable used (I use an old panasonic toughbook with a true serial port and TNC Server) I made the cable with standard D-shell connectors and shielded cable purchased from Digikey or Mouser; the cable is pretty long 25' (if I recall), and seems to work fine. I've also read that sometimes serial to USB converters can cause issues (hence why I use a pc with a true serial port).
>Attached are the TNC Server/machine settings (some are probably different for a 151)
>The (notepad text) program files must start and end with a 3-digit numeric (001-999) " %xxx G70" that matches the file name xxx.I
>I use the "read in external program" from the TNC, and key in the specific xxx file.
>I also use the "test run program" which will tell you if anything is out of travel limits, or some other program issue. I never try to edit things on the control, I either repost it or do minimal tweaks on the text notepad file (I'm not skilled, or patient, enough to do extensive g-code analysis or modifications)

on the pin sets , when you write 21-25 NC (normally closed) did you solder . join all these together ?
or did you mean No Connection

no luck with this im afraid i dont thinks its any kind of issue with file type either or it would read "wrong program data"

i have tried many configurations now resorted to testing though DB9 pin - DB24pin - Amphnol 14 pin for continuity, in order to make sure 100 percent everything is where i think it is

for anyone interested in suicide please feel free to look through the many attachments of extra configurations i have now tried with no luck whatsoever
