Doosan Machine Tools changes name to DN Solutions

Yes I do. I'm just waiting for the comments like the last time we changed ownership. I'm glad we now have someone that seems to have a true interest in manufacturing instead of fattening us up for resale.
So it's a wait and see game.....................

So the machines won’t say Doosan on them? Pretty dumb to wash two decades of name recognition down the drain.

Most likely no choice in the matter. It is not part of Doosan and much like when Doosan was the new name from Daewoo, this will be part of history. We just went through the same thing when Nidec bought Mitsubishi Heavy Industries large machine manufacturing. Mitsubishi made Nidec take their name off the company. Now we have Nidec large machines.

Well I’m not scraping off all the old badging like Titan did. He seemed way more excited about the change than he should’ve been. I guess I could pretend to be excited about selling out if free machines kept arriving at my shop every other week.

Part of the sale agreement was that the new owners would have to rename the company.
I don't think the name plates will matter much, however.
Same great value, slightly different badging.

We have been planning this for over a year. If you noticed, the name "Doosan" has been gradually replaced by the generic "Puma" badge. There will be no major changes. The last two years have been record years for us with record sales and profits. There will be detractors though. Like DDoug said, "Too much debt"? Like he has an inside scoop somehow. Not many companies would buy a company drowning in debt. So, we go on. Utimately, time will tell.

How would you assume I "have some inside scoop" when I use a question mark ?

Many times companies pull a name change for just that reason. Lawyers & Accountants kind of things.

Please fill us in of just WHY the name change ?

Simply using a question mark does not remove the insinuation. If you had been paying attention, you would seen that we have made serious strides in the industry over the last few years. Do I seriously expect you/anyone to be paying close attention to us? No. We are just another MTB trying to make it's way in a cutthroat industry.
Why the name change? The last time we were bought, we licensed the Doosan name from Doosan Heavy Industries. That was meant to be temporary all along. The time came to stop licensing the name we did not own anymore. DHI got sold to someone else. We then got sold to someone else too. The life of the Doosan name came to an end, obviously. We were bought by a large Korean automotive manufacturer and our new name reflects the combined efforts of these two companies to create a new manufacturing company to provide a full service range of services to the industry. That's about as much as anyone except upper management knows at the moment. But, after the last few years of growing and providing quality machines to the industry, I have no problem believing DN Solutions will continue down the path we started on a few years ago.

You guys make a quality machine tool... but "DN Solutions" is the most boring, mid-level Management Bozo milquetoast name humanly possible. The best part is, I can almost promise you some hair-n-teeth marketing people charged 6 figures to cook that brilliance up.

In addition to what gkoenig wrote, I am willing to bet that there will be another name change coming down the pipe relatively soon.
Nah, not likely. Any idea what a global corporate name change costs? Not just in money but in all the time and effort involved? This is also about future services provided. Not just machine tools but robotics and the like. I guess it also depends on what you mean by "relatively soon".

I agree, that was exactly my first thoughts. What a stupid name for such a huge machine tool brand. Surely they could have come up with something better then that.

When the same people who settled on the name " DN Solutions" realize that the utter and complete lack of name recognition is costing them in sales.

Just think about it for a minute.
When I'm asked about what I've got, I can say Mori, Haas, Makino, Brother, or perhaps Bridgeport, Hardinge, Amada....
Now what if I answer that I have DN Solutions?

Doosan is a machine tool builder. The fact that it also provides additional services is secondary.
