Using a 10-24 SPI Bilz Style Tap Adapter in a manual mill form threading 10-24 in 303ss
Theses are deeper than normal threads (0.80)
In trying the above holder on its "twin" part that had only 0.5" deep threads, the std form tap clutched out,
I switched to a drill chuck and ran the 40pc's without issue.
The deeper threads will be done with a reduced shank OSG tap that is due in this afternoon.
I'm planning on increasing torque a notch at a time hopefully not snapping the tap before meeting depth.
Tap hole is at largest to still gage
questions
Do the adjustable torque holders clutch mechanisms wear out after adjusting tighter and tighter?
Is it best to back the setting to the original after use?
