Buck transformer wiring issue.

I recently purchased an ACME T111683 buck transformer to wire up some 220v (+/-10%) equipment to my 247v supply line. When I received the transformer two of the leads were unlabeled. The unlabeled leads are H3 and H4.

Based on the manual I should be wiring this as shown in the (I) drawing. What happens if H3 and H4 are switched. are we talking major fireworks/dangerous situation?

Finally, anyone know a way to figure out which lead is H3 and H4 safely?

The transformer was a closeout deal, so no hope of return.

Hook up h1 and h2 to 120vac.

Then connect one of the unknowns to H2. If the other unknown measures 240 volts to H1, then it is H4.

If it is backwards it will be 1 volt or less.

You can parallel h1 and h2 with unknowns h3 and 4. If its correct, your circuit breaker wont trip :)

or use a lightbulb in series..
