Greetings,
I checked the site but was unable to find any recent posts regarding Towmotor forklifts. There's probably a reason since these machines are of the antique variety.
I have a Towmotor LT44 (S/N 4451538) that I am putting back into running condition. It has the four cylinder flathead Continental engine with manual trans. My question is what oil to put in the trans. There is a friction style breather cap (like we used to see on the valve covers of older engines) on the fill hole on the center of the floorboard that says 'OIL' on the cap. I am not sure if this is the original cap or something a previous owner adapted.
Also, what type of hydraulic fluid is used for the hydraulic system?
Thanks for reading and any suggestions (other than get the hell out of here you're bugging us) would be appreciated.
Regards,
Mike
